7th & 8th: Only 3 more lessons till the end of Unit 7. We will look at the Epistle to the Romans and conclude by talking about the Road to Jerusalem. Quiz on Tuesday, Feb 9, and test on Monday, Feb 15. I will have a review sheet for you on Monday, Feb 8.
6th & 7th: Continuing our Unit titled, "The Journey to Canaan," which contains some accounts of the Israelites while they were in the wildernerness. We'll finish the account of Moses striking the Rock and then transition into a lesson titled, "The Last Stage of the Journey." See Numbers 21.
February 8- February 11
Good Friday evening, one and all!
I imagine it was nice to be home and have a three-day weekend. But what a lot of snow!
Anyway--it seems like the days have flown by since I last posted here. It was two weeks ago that we had the discussion in class about spiritual warfare (after reading about the Seven Sons of Sceva in Acts 19). Right around that time, we talked about reasons to believe in the existence of God, and then noted that we need a revelation from God to tell us what God is like and what he expects of us. This is easy to take for granted, so it bears repeating: since we are creatures, we can only know about God by what He has chosen to reveal about Himself.
The clearest, most comprehensive, most detailed revelation of God, other than the person of Christ, is the word of God as it is contained in the scriptures. I'm sure you're aware that there are parts of the world where people don't have access to the Bible. I was involved with people who helped smuggle Bibles into China-- this was over 20 years ago. I can remember accounts from missionaries who told us that Chinese Christians would swim from Hong Kong to mainland China with Bibles in backpacks, and that the Chinese believers would swap pages from those Bibles! May God increase our hunger for His word.
Well, as you know, there's a quiz coming up on Tuesday. I've got it all written up-- 15 questions in all. We're nearing the end of Unit 7, so a test is in the offing early the week of February 14. I will try to have a review sheet for you on Monday.
To prepare for the quiz, I would recommend reading Acts 15, 16, and 17, along with Galatians chapters 1 & 2. (Remember the focus of each chapter-- Jerusalem Council, ministry in Philippi, and sermon on the Areopagus.)
Finally, remember what I said about looking at your work sheets. I will generally supplement some of your answers, so you will have a fuller, more comprehensive answer to some of the questions than you may have written from your personal or group study. In addition, the worksheets will help you prepare for the test as you recall what you wrote and talked about from the work sheets.
With that, I'll sign off. Have a good rest of the weekend. If you're fan, enjoy the Super Bowl!
