My name is Lisa Kamp and I am the 2nd grade teacher here at Lamont Christian School. This is my seventh year teaching here at Lamont Christian, and my sixth year teaching 2nd grade. I am a 2015 graduate of Calvin College, with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
I love being part of a Christian school community! I grew up in Christian education, attending Hudsonville Christian and Unity Christian. I also student taught in a Christian school and had many great experiences there.
One of the most rewarding things I get to do at Lamont Christian is teach Bible. I recall these stories from when I was growing up, and even as I teach them I realize new things about the story that I didn't understand before. It is great to enter discussions about God and His works with a class of 2nd graders. It is so rewarding to see how their minds for Jesus are already so on fire. It's been fun to watch previous students grow in their faith even over the few years I've been here.
My favorite Bible passage is Philippians 4:6-7 which says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." I can be a big worrier, but this verse gives me comfort and peace that I don't need that fear when I have God on my side.
Summer is my favorite season of the year. This is because I love water sports, especially water skiing! My family has a cottage on Miner Lake in Allegan, MI. My husband and I go there almost every weekend during the summer. We also have an adorable 8 year old puppy named Sadie who I love very much. Other things I like to do include reading (especially Harry Potter), fishing, exercising, playing board games and card games, playing tennis, spikeball, and spending time with my family and friends.
