Ms. DeYoung
I am so excited to be back for my fifth year here at Lamont CS! I have loved all of the support and involvement from this community and love working here. I graduated in 2019 from Calvin College, now Calvin University, where I majored in Elementary Education and Integrated Science. When I am not at school, I love to be active outdoors. I can often be found hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and skiing. If I am not outside, I love to curl up with a cup of tea and a good book.
There are many aspects that I love about Math and Science, but one of the biggest things is how easily we can see God through these subjects. In Math we see His order and precision, and in Science we see His creativity, structure, and intentional design from the cell structure in leaves all the way to the path of the Earth around the Sun. In my middle school Math and Science classroom, my teacher had a quote hanging on the back wall that served as our goal for the whole year, no matter what we were studying. It stuck out to me so much that I put it up in my own room: "to see the Creator in His Creation." How amazing to serve a God who can be seen in all parts of life!

My favorite verse comes from the book of Lamentations; not a typical place to look for a favorite verse! I love these verses of hope tucked in the middle of sadness because they remind us that no matter what we are going through, God's love and mercy never fail. |
