Mrs. Bonnie McKeown
4th Grade Teacher
Hi! I'm Mrs. McKeown, and I'm excited to enter my sixth year teaching at Lamont Christian. I feel blessed that God has placed me in this wonderful community where I get to walk along side other fellow believers and serve Him everyday through teaching. God has called each child to bring forth His kingdom, and I love that I get to be a part of watching and helping His children grow in Christ.
Teaching has so many rewarding experiences. Two of my favorites are the "light bulb" moments and watching my students build relationships with one another and Jesus. "Light bulb" moments appear after working on a concept for awhile and finally understanding it! Many times in our classroom these happen after working together and helping one another. Working together can strengthen our relationship with Jesus too as we get to model Christ's love to others.
A Little About Me:
I grew up in Fremont, MI and attended Fremont Christian School and Western Michigan Christian High School. I graduated from Calvin College in May of 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Math and English as a Second Language (ESL). I have had the opportunity to teach in many different school settings in Grand Rapids as well as a 4th grade classroom at a Christian school in California. I live in Muskegon with my husband Joe and our two dogs Toby and Molly.
Favorite Bible verses:
"I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth....The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."
Psalm 121:1-2, 7-8
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
